EPA CONFIRMS ARRA BUY AMERICAN CLAUSE REQUIRES DOMESTIC PRODUCTION FOR IRON AND STEEL CASTINGS
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has released a fact sheet to assist American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) recipients comply with the ARRA "Buy American" requirement. The EPA document reiterates the requirement that all manufacturing processes (including “refining, processing, stamping and forming”) for iron and steel products like "man-hole covers" occur domestically to be eligible as domestic products for ARRA-funded projects.
Members of the Municipal Castings Association make an array of ARRA-compliant castings including manhole frames and covers, drainage boxes, inlet frames and grates, traffic signal boxes, street lighting boxes, communications access boxes (such as those used for cable and telephone installations), and utility castings.
